Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP)

CCTP (Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency) is an add-on course available to MS-CIT learners. It provides an opportunity to develop and demonstrate typing proficiency using the Remington typing layout in English, Marathi, or Hindi at speeds of 30 or 40 words per minute.

Admission

The CCTP course is supplementary alongside the MS-CIT course.
Once Learner is enrolled for MS-CIT Course, Learner has choice to enroll for any one of the six CCTP Courses and it is not mandatory Learners wishing to earn the CCTP certificate must select the CCTP option at the time of MS-CIT admission.

During Admission, learner can choose any one of the following six CCTP Course Options:

Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 30 WPM in English
Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 40 WPM in English
Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 30 WPM in Marathi
Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 40 WPM in Marathi
Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 30 WPM in Hindi
Certificate of Computer Typing Proficiency (CCTP) – 40 WPM in Hindi

Syllabus

The CCTP course consists of 50 sessions, delivered through the ERA online learning system.

Course Objectives:

To develop computer typing proficiency at 30 or 40 words per minute.
To learn correct finger positioning, posture, and ergonomic typing techniques.
To master the use of the Remington keyboard layout (government standard).
To achieve typing proficiency essential for employability.
To type effectively in English, Marathi, and Hindi.
Session-wise Overview:

Introduction to typing history, keyboard types, and layouts.
Practice sessions on Marathi/Hindi characters using Remington Keyboard.
Home Row, Top Row, Bottom Row, and Number Row exercises.
Speed-building and error-reduction techniques.
Mock tests and simulation tests designed like government exams.
The CCTP e-learning content will be available in the ERA system from November 2025 onwards.
Learning Mode:

Learners admitted in @ALC Mode for MS-CIT must complete CCTP in the same mode.
Learners admitted in Online Mode for MS-CIT must complete CCTP in Online Mode as well.

Exam

The CCTP Final Online Examination will be held immediately after the MS-CIT final online exam, with a duration of 10 minutes.

Eligibility

Learners must have completed both MS-CIT and CCTP courses in the ERA system
Learners must achieve the required typing speed (30 or 40 WPM) in the chosen language through internal practice before the final exam.

Mode: Online exam using Remington Keyboard Layout
Important Note: While announcing or updating the list of recognized “Computer Typing Proficiency Certificates” in their recruitment policies or advertisements, the inclusion of the CCTP Certificate will be at the discretion of the respective public, government, private, cooperative, or social organizations.

earners who pass the CCTP exam will receive a joint certificate from MKCL and MSBTE.
Learners passing both exams will receive two separate certificates – one for MS-CIT and one for CCTP.
Learners passing only one exam will receive a certificate for that respective exam.
